BRNCTY

Overview

I developed the full brand identity, website, and marketing visuals for BRNCTY Barbers, a modern barbershop based in Melbourne’s Docklands. The project aimed to create a bold, street-inspired brand that stood out from the saturated barbershop scene while staying true to Melbourne’s underground culture.

The Challenge

Melbourne is packed with barbershops, most leaning into tired, retro aesthetics. BRNCTY Barbers needed a fresh take. Their goal was to launch a modern barbershop brand that felt confident, clean, and locally authentic. They wanted an identity that could sit on merch, stand out online, and live on the street without falling into cliché.

My Creative Approach

I anchored the brand around the name BRNCTY, a stripped-down play on “Burn City,” Melbourne’s street nickname. I drew inspiration from sportswear branding systems like Adidas and Nike, where multiple logo styles work together under one unified look.

To build this barbershop brand identity, I designed a full suite of logotypes and brand marks:

  • A bold, custom sans-serif logo sliced at an angle, mimicking the precision of a sharp fade
  • Vintage-inspired script logos for merch and apparel
  • Blackletter monograms for a nod to tradition
  • Modular typographic lockups used across signage, packaging, and digital

One of the standout details in the identity is IMPORT LN 06, a callout to BRNCTY’s physical location on Import Lane. I embedded this across t-shirts, skateboards, and posters to give the brand a subtle streetwear-style signature rooted in place.

Website Design – Minimal UX With Maximum Impact

I designed a one-page barbershop website that focused on essentials. Built for mobile-first browsing, the site reflects the same no-fluff energy as the shop itself. Key features include:

  • A fullscreen hero section to showcase the logo and vibe
  • A sharp, SEO-optimised About BRNCTY Barbers block using local keywords
  • Clear pricing for haircuts, beard trims, and combo services
  • Operating hours and a live Google Map for Melbourne Docklands barbershop location SEO
  • An integrated contact form and booking call-to-action

Every section was designed for quick readability, fast load speed, and mobile optimisation, which are key elements for strong Google ranking.

What I Delivered
  • Complete brand identity system (modern, vintage, monogram, script)
  • Fully responsive barbershop website design
  • Custom-designed business cards, loyalty stamp cards, and signage
  • In-store visuals, window decals, and shopfront branding
  • Merchandise mockups: t-shirts, caps, towels
  • Limited edition skateboard designs for brand drops
  • OOH poster series for street and guerrilla marketing
The Result

BRNCTY Barbers launched with a high-impact visual identity and a distinctive digital presence. The brand stood out in Melbourne’s crowded grooming scene, combining premium barbershop aesthetics with urban culture cues. The use of IMPORT LN 06 turned the shop’s address into a badge of pride, transforming a simple location into a key brand asset.

The feedback on the branding and website was overwhelmingly positive, resonating with both clients and the local community. Unfortunately, due to the financial impact of COVID-19 lockdowns, the business was unable to continue operating long-term. Despite this, the project remains a strong example of building a cohesive brand experience from identity to digital presence.
